Dhivya Shastri pursued an undergraduate degree in Environment and Resource Studies and then received her postgraduate degree in Public Health. Currently, she is the Program and Outreach Co-ordinator for YWCA Agvvik Nunavut, where she works in Canada’s youngest territory. Through her work, Dhivya has learned about how a history of colonization and cultural disruption has contributed to very high rates of structural violence against women. Dhivya is a strong advocate for women’s sexual and reproductive health and rights. Many of her programs are developed with this passion in mind. Her blogs will explore the experiences and knowledge of other women, as well as her own to create a positive and powerful space that supports women’s rights and empowerment.
